SDP Gov Candidate Steps Down For Makinde

Oyo Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Michael Lana has stepped down for Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He is the first to make such a public declaration among all governorship candidates for Saturday’s Governorship and Assembly elections.

It will be recalled that some leaders of the party, including the State Executive Council and other stakeholders last week declared support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Teslim Folarin.

Speaking during a briefing in Ibadan, on Tuesday, Lana alleged that some of those at the helm of affairs within the party sold out for a pittance and declared for the opposition without the consent of other stakeholders in the party.

He said as a result of the action, other stakeholders decided to take a decision that will be in the best interest of the neglected, aggrieved party members, the candidates and Oyo residents.
