Ondo Crisis: Mimiko Storms Aso Rock; Holds Private Meeting With Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari is as at press time having a closed-door meeting with the governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, at the Presidential Villa. The governor arrived Aso Rock at about 11 am, and went straight into the president’s office. His visit is coming less than 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate  of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ondo governorship election.

 Ibrahim is of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, while Eyitayo Jegede, who is also laying claim to the PDP ticket in the state, is a member of a faction led by Ahmed Makarfi.
