Thousands Of APGA, PDP Members Defect To APC

Thousands of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), United Progressives Party (UPP) and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have moved in large numbers to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in Edo State.
Egor local government area PDP youth chairman, Mr Lambart Omoregie, said the defection was long in coming. “I have been in darkness and I have seen the light. And it is my strong believe that Obaseki is a better candidate to Ize-Iyamu so we all are supporting him,” he had said. The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, in a statement believed that the defection by members of the two parties will alter the result of politics in the state. “I now believe that Edo people know what democracy in Nigeria is all about. I have not seen where people will leave their parties with their candidate to another party but I have seen it today,” he said.
