It was encomiums galore on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 when Deacon (Dr) Wale Sadeeq, Assistant Editor-in- Chief, News Agency of Nigeria NAN played host to friends, colleagues and family members at his Progressive Estate, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan residence to commemorate his 50 years existence on the surface of the earth.
Dr Wale Sadeeq, and wife, Olurinola could not hide their joy as their residence suddenly became a mecca of sort for well-wishers who had come to felicitate with them on the occasion of his 50th birthday anniversary. Food and drinks were not in short supply while guests took turn to pray for the celebrant for good health and many more years on the surface of the earth.
Dr Gbade Ojo, the presiding pastor of the Sanctuary of Christ Evangelical Church, Ibadan and chief of staff to Oyo State Governor, gave a brief sermon at the event. Dr Gbade Ojo disclosed that he was wearing two caps in his relationship with the celebrant. He explained that he was Sadeeq’s brother and pastor, a situation he said placed him in a vantage position to know him better than anyone else at the event.
Dr Gbade Ojo joined other well-wishers to congratulate ‘Wale Sadeeq for being alive in good health and comfort at age 50. According to him, many of Sadeeq’s mates were not lucky to enjoy the kind of grace he was endowed with by God. Dr Ojo pointed out that it was not mandatory for anyone to reach 50 years, stressing that many others had fallen along the way while several others yet alive had seen the other side of life.
”That you are alive is worth celebrating. And that you have a good home at 50 with your wife and children living with you in peace is worth giving God all the glory and adoration”, he said. He however, prayed for many more years for the celebrant with good health.
Prof. Olutayo Alebiosu, immediate past chairman, Progressive Estate Landlords Association, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan, was full of praises for Dr Sadeeq for being a good resident of the community. He noted that within the short period Sadeeq moved to the neighbourhood, he had been of immense benefit to the community. He stressed that this has endeared him to other residents of the community.
Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Media, commended Sadeeq for his diligence and hard work. As a speech writer to the governor, he said that Sadeeq had never disappointed in his duties, even at short notice.
His wife, Deaconess Olurinola described him as a good husband and a responsible father to his children. ”If I come back to this world, I’ll like to have Wale as my husband over and over again”, she said, as she particularly eulogized him for his patience and tolerance.
Born on 29th January, 1969, Wale Sadeeq attended IMG Primary School, Ode-Aje, Ibadan. He was at Army Barracks Grammar School, Iwo-road, Ibadan before he proceeded to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism NIJ, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos for a diploma in Journalism. He was the overall best graduating student. He later had a B.Sc Honours and M.Sc in Political Science at the University of Ibadan. He thereafter attended Babcock University Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State for his PhD in Political Science.
He was media Consultant to Ekiti State Governor between 2004 and 2006.. Dr Wale Sadeeq is today the Assistant Editor-in-Chief, with News Agency of Nigeria NAN.
