Six months after HKN front artiste, Davido signed a mouth-watering deal with Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records, singing sensation, Wizkid has followed suit by also signing a mind blowing deal with the music giant. The deal is said to be quite big, much bigger than any African artist including that of Davido.
And why not! In recent times, the crooner has been making steady waves with his numerous collaborations with international artistes such as Drake, Sean Paul, Swiss Beatz, Chris Brown and several others, as well as headlining international shows. What this signifies for African music, Nigerian music in particular, is huge progress for the music business on the continent.
Since leaving his maiden record label, Empire Management Entertainment (EME) and floating his, Star Boy, the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer has been working on dropping his first album under the Star Boy imprint, which he has since titled, ‘Sounds From The Other Side’. The album is expected to house the many international collaborations he has been working on. With this new deal, Wizkid joins the growing list of African stars who are collaborating with international music companies to grow their music, influence, and achieve penetration into other markets.
